University hospitals are at the crossroads of patient care, translational research, and large‑scale biomedical innovation. This unique setting creates data challenges that go far beyond those of a typical university department. In other terms University hospitals therefore also face a uniquely demanding RDM landscape. In this lecture we provide the specific use case from the University Medicine Magdeburg of how a road map for such RDM might look like. This includes secure infrastructures, FAIR‑compatible workflows, building up information channels as well as establishing a self-hosted AI platform that supports the processing of sensitive data. Attendees will gain a vision of what steps are important to manage complex medical research data effectively.
