Please take the time to do so. Although there are not many fields to fill in, it greatly facilitates the review and documentation of incoming inquiries for the RDM-team.

Please allow us a few days for processing. We will get back to you with appointment suggestions for an initial consultation via Zoom by email. During this consultation, we will address your request and discuss the details in order to offer you an optimal service.

The RDM does not offer an online survey tool. If you would like to use LimeSurvey, please submit your request through the OVGU main campus:

https://www.urz.ovgu.de/Startseite/eLearning+_+Multimedia/LimeSurvey.html

We do not currently offer an electronic laboratory notebook. However, we are planning to offer eLabFTW from summer 2025 onwards.

Our RDM-team will be happy to support you with creating RDM text parts and data management plans. Please send us a request via the application form and also plan sufficient time for us to respond to your inquiry.

For other questions regarding third-party funding, application submission, and cost calculation, please contact the Referat für Forschung.

Please contact us directly if you need support with RDM text parts for your application and refrain from using any available templates. Our team does not provide such templates since applications usually aren't alike, and we work out an optimal formulation for each application individually

The servers are located at the campus of the university medicine.

Both Clouds are based on the same system. Both DIC-Nextcloud and DocShare are offered internally (accessible via VPN) and externally by UMMD. While DocShare is provided by ITMT (IT department) and is suitable for quickly sharing small data formats. DIC-Nextcloud provides a long-term storage medium including regular automated backup, with which larger datasets can be stored and shared.

You can either manually upload your data to Nextcloud via the browser or install the Nextcloud desktop client. When setting up the client, you can also select specific folders whose content will be automatically synchronized with Nextcloud. This means that you won't have to manually upload edited data from your PC to the cloud, but changes will be automatically transferred.

Note: If you use university owned notebooks and computers, you have to contact the IT-department to install the client.

It depends on whether you plan to use our internal or external system. Access to storage in the internal system is only possible internally at UMMD or via VPN, whereas access to storage in the external system does not require a VPN connection.

The VPN has to be requested in the IT-department.

Yes, that is possible. Access Nextcloud via the browser and at the bottom left of the window under "Settings" is the WebDAV link

Not currently, but we plan to offer network drive storage in the spring/summer of 2025 as well.

Utilized is the open-source framework Ollama, together with various Large Language Models (LLMs):

  • Ollama3.2 Vision: for general questions, translations EN <-> DE, image analyses
  • Deepseek-coder-v2: optimized to improve developer code or write complete programs

The DIC AI-tool has been approved by the Information Security department of UMMD for internal use. The use of personal data is not permitted. All data modified or generated with this AI tool will be stored exclusively on the server of the DIC.

No, unfortunately that's not possible.

In principle, the RDM/IBMI-team offers a Confluence basic training as an employee training several times a year. You can register there gladly. If you need a training on short notice or if you want to train your entire team or department, please contact the RDM-team. We will then coordinate with you to find a possible individual solution.

In addition to fixed dates for employee training on research data management, we also offer the option of training your team directly at your location. This can take the form of a lecture or a workshop. We would be happy to coordinate with you to find a possible individual solution.
